Obituary of Jack Modrell

Martin "Jack" Modrell Jr. (43) resident of Calder, ID died July 3, 2010 at Moose Creek Reservoir from an accidental drowning near Bovill ID. He was born May 28, 1967 to Martin J. and Zelda (Cartwright) Modrell Sr. at Ft. Worth, Texas. He grew up at Big Creek near Calder, ID and attended schools at Calder- Avery and St. Maries. As a young man he went to work in the woods with his father for Jack Modrell and Sons Logging.. He married Lea Anne Vernon August 23, 1986 at Big Creek, ID and made their home between St. Maries and Calder before moving to Alaska in 1989 where he worked in the oil fields. Upon returning to St. Maries in 1992 he continued to work with his father in the woods. He went to work for St. Maries Concrete Co. 1997. He was divorced in 2000. He was laid off from work 2 years ago. Jack was a Life Member of the NRA and was a former member of the St. Joe Search and Rescue. He loved hunting, fishing and camping, as well as sitting around a campfire telling stories and drinking a "Blue Bird". He is survived by his companion Carol Williams, his sons Corporal Mat Modrell USMC New River Air Station, North Carolina, Mykle Modrell, and Anthony Modrell both of Spokane, WA. His daughters Staci Yehle (Seth), Ashley Homer (Steve) of St. Maries. He is also survived by his father Jack Modrell Sr. of Calder, ID, Sisters Mary Jo Harpole (Charley), Sandy Moore (Kenny) and Betty Nemeth all residing in St. Maries, ID. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. and special friends: Carey and Wendy Allen, Kevin and Amy Nicholson. . He was preceded in death by brother Jim Modrell and his mother Zelda. Graveside Funeral Services will be Saturday July 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Applegate Cemetery, North side road, 3 miles east .
