Obituary of Katherine Ann McFadden

Katherine Ann McFadden (90) lifelong resident of St. Maries died January 21, 2015 at her home. Katherine was born to William and Catherine (Lannen) McCaffery in St. Maries on February 22, 1924. She graduated from St. Maries High School in 1942 where she belonged to the State Champion Drum and Bugle Corps. Following high school, Katherine moved to Spokane, WA where she attended and graduated from Holy Names College. She went to work as a lab technician. Katherine married Richard McFadden on December 27, 1955 in Spokane, WA. After they were married they returned to St. Maries. Upon their return, they started their family where Katherine was a home maker and raised her children. She was a Campfire Leader, Cub Scout Leader, and taught Sunday school for the Catholic children. She enjoyed having her home serve as a hub for her children and all their friends. Later, Katherine went to work at the Paperhouse in St. Maries. She was active on the library board and enjoyed reading, and playing bridge especially with the “Dirty 9’s”. Katherine was a member and treasurer of TOPS and enjoyed spending time with her friends in the group Katherine is survived by her spouse Richard “Dick” McFadden of St. Maries, her son and daughter-in-law Patrick and Cathleen McFadden of St. Maries, her daughters and sons in-law Mary Kay and Mike Perry of Needham MA, and Susan and Patrick Dalton of Spokane, WA and daughters Barbara Pybus of Spokane, WA, and Elizabeth “Betsy” McFadden of Boise, ID, Also surviving are grandchildren Kylie and Andy Pybus, Hilary Hibbeln and great grand-daughter Maya Hibbeln as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Katherine was preceded in death by her sister Patricia and her parents. Rosary will be recited Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 7:00 pm and Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 30, 2015 at 11:00 am both at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church with Fr. John Gathingu and Deacon Floyd Turner Celebrants. A gathering of family and friends will follow services at the St. Maries Elks Lodge.
