Obituary of Myrna Rae Linnemeyer

Myrna R. Linnemeyer (74), longtime resident and City of St. Maries Clerk, passed away January 31, 2015, at Coeur d’Alene, ID, following an extended illness. She was born Sept. 3, 1940, to Jack and Myra (Young) Alavana, at Kalispell, MT. Myrna grew up in Eureka, MT. While growing up there, she was a member of the Rainbow Girls Organization. She graduated from Eureka High School with the Class of 1958. Following her graduation, Myrna traveled to Havre, MT and to Arizona before she married Larry Linnemeyer on Oct. 3, 1959, at the Methodist Church in Coeur d’Alene, ID. The couple made their home at Naples, ID, before moving to St. Maries in 1962. Myrna was active in being a homemaker and raising her family. In 1968, she went to work for Marvin Wheeler at St. Maries Drug Store. Myrna went to work for the City of St. Maries in 1970. She served in various capacities from City Treasurer to City Clerk, a position she retired from in 2005. Her husband died in 2002. Myrna loved St. Maries and, except for her family and friends, it was a top priority in her life. Myrna enjoyed going to all her grandchildren’s activities, hardly missing any of them. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. As mentioned, her friends and family were very important to her. Myrna is survived by her son, Jack Linnemeyer of St. Maries; daughter and son-in-law, Lara and Curt Carr of Rathdrum, ID; her sister, Betty Voorhees of St. Maries; five grandchildren (Lucas Linnemeyer, Jacklin Linnemeyer, Lance, Scott and Troy Carr), and three great-grandchildren (Curtis and Piper Carr, and Cael Linnemeyer-with a sister expected to be born in the Spring). She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Helen Simmons and Dorothea Murray. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 4, 2015, from 1:00-5:00 p.m., at Hodge Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Thursday, February 5, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the St. Maries Church of the Nazarene, 175 Grandview Drive, with Pastor Darin Million officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Church. Myrna’s final resting place will be with her husband, Larry, at Woodlawn Cemetery, St. Maries, ID.
