Obituary of Helen Margarite Klander

Helen M. Klander (73) resident of Plummer, ID died May 18 2015 at Cle Elum, WA. She was born February 17, 1942 to Cecil and Anna (Payne) Harphan at Toppenish, WA. Helen grew up where ever her father’s ministry took the family throughout the Yakima Valley. She married Walter Darrow Sr. on November 13, 1959 at Deer Park, WA. They made their home in Everett, WA where she was a homemaker and raised her family. Helen received the “Golden Acorn” Award for her work with the PTA. She lived in Outlook, WA were she was a Den Mother for a local scout troop. In 1979, Helen moved to Fall City, WA. She was divorced in 1985. Helen married Bud Klander in 1986 at Issaquah, WA. They made their home at Preston, WA. She went to work for Overlake Medical Center at Bellevue, WA where she was recognized as an “Employee of the Month”. Helen worked as a housekeeper in the Environment Service Dept. Her husband died in 2006. She retired from Overlake Medical Center and moved to Plummer in 2008. Helen is survived by her son’s and daughters-in-law Walter and Lisa Darrow Jr. of Ellensburg, WA and Timothy and Starla Darrow of Cle Elum, WA. her daughters and sons-in-law Mary and Marvin Woolridge of Big Oak flat, CA, Linda Darrow and Joe Stevens of Cheney, WA and Sherri and Larry York of Zillah, WA. Also surviving are her sister Hazel (Mel) Doyle of Plummer, ID, 21 Grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 8 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister and a grandson. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Plummer Assembly of God Church with Pastor Chuck Inks officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, St. Maries with a gathering of family and friends to follow back at the church.
