Obituary of Larry Milton Harpole

Larry (Bing) Harpole (70) longtime St. Maries, ID resident, died peacefully in his sleep on May 20, 2015 at his home in St. Maries. He was born February 11, 1945 to Andrew Jackson and Ida (Foster) Harpole at Eugene, OR. Bing lived in Oregon until he was 15 years old when he moved with his family to Calder, Idaho. He left school early to work in the woods. Bing appreciated the outdoors and all it had to offer. He made his living as a sawyer and equipment operator and spent his leisure time hunting, fishing, camping, and picking huckleberries and mushrooms. Bing was also natural craftsman and enjoyed working with his hands and doing carpentry. A lover of animals, he rescued many and had a small quarter horse ranch in the 70s and 80s. Bing was an avid NASCAR fan and Jeff Gordon was his favorite driver. He also found pleasure playing the guitar, especially in jam sessions with his family and friends. Bing was married to Sidney Turner (Cramp) in 1966 at Coeur d’Alene, ID. They made their home at Calder, ID. They were divorced in 1979. In 1993 Bing married Margaret Sines, they were divorced in 2005. Working in the woods took a toll on his body and he retired in 2002. Bing is survived by his son Todd Harpole in Michigan, and his daughter Sandi Harpole-Williams who lives in Post Falls, ID. Also surviving are brothers Charles Harpole of St. Maries and Elmer Harpole of North Dakota and by sisters Marilyn Hunter and Gloria Harpole both of Oregon. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by brothers Melvin and Roy Harpole, sisters Helen Huddleston and Irene Christiansen. A memorial service to share memories is planned for July 11, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Charlie Harpole's River Property up the St. Maries River Road. You go 4.5 Miles up the St. Maries River road and take the first left after Highland Springs.
