Obituary of Virginia Marie Bryntesen

Virginia Bryntesen (85) passed away at Hospice House of North Idaho on June 16, 2015. Virginia was born to Bruce and Cecilia Senter on May 6, 1930 in Nez Perce, ID. She grew up on a farm on a ridge that over looked Orofino, ID. Virginia graduated from Nez Perce High School with the class of 1948. On October 1948, Virginia married Richard Kachelmier in Nez Perce, ID. They made their home there where she raised her family. In 1970 she moved to St. Maries and her husband Richard passed away that year. She married Clarence “Bud” Bryntesen on February 14, 1971. Virginia purchased the Riverside Resort in 1970 from the Harvey family. After her marriage to Bud, he didn’t want her working in the restaurant business, so it was returned back to the Harvey family. She later worked as a waitress at Midway Café. She then returned to being a homemaker and spoiled her husband. In the winters, they traveled to Yuma, AZ and enjoyed trips to Canada and New Mexico. Bud passed away in 1998. Virginia enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and enjoyed sewing and cooking which she was well known for her famous cinnamon rolls. Virginia is survived by her sons Larry Kachelmier of Clarkston, Bill and Jayme Kachelmier of St. Maries, and Jim Kachelmier of St. Maries. Her daughters Diane and Steve Dorendorf of St. Maries, Karen Wing of Clarkston, WA, Mary Ellen Cronk of Mt. Lake Terrace, WA, Anita and Reese Johnson St. Maries, Shelley Pentland of Coeur d’ Alene, and Irene and Curt Riggs of Sagle. Also surviving are her step sons Lonnie and Debbi Bryntesen of Coeur d’ Alene, Tab and Nancy Bryntesen of Coeur d’ Alene, Jon and Bridget Bryntesen of Post Falls, and step daughters Toni and Terry Moe of Coeur d’ Alene, Kim and Rick Walters of Odessa, WA, and Beth Ann and Dennis Aho of Spokane, WA. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren are also surviving. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers Ray Senter and Edward Senter. A Catholic Mass is scheduled for Friday June 19, 2015 2:00 pm at the St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Benedictine Hall.
