Obituary of David Bruce Penner

David Bruce Penner (67) resident of Fernwood, ID died Jan. 14, 2016 at his sister’s home near Fernwood while under Hospice care. He was born Feb. 17, 1948 to Carl and Marie (Bacon) Penner Sr. at Sacramento, CA. David grew up in Roseville, CA. at 3 years of age, he was diagnosed as being developmentally delayed. He spent his formative years attending special education classes. David was married twice and they both ended in divorce. He was never able to work to support himself. He lived most of his life in Roseville and Carmichael, California. While there, he enjoyed partaking in Civil War reenactments and served on the Southern side. He was a “Stars and Bars” kind of guy. David moved to St. Maries in 2001 to be with his sister Cheryl. He helped her manage her small farm. When Cheryl became sick, David was her caregiver. David was a “Love Bug” and no one was a stranger. He considered everyone his family. David was very special and a major highlight in his life was when Sheriff Dave Ressor swore him in as an Honorary Reserve Deputy Sheriff. David was a member of the Fernwood Comm. Church. David is survived by his sister Cheryl Marshall of Fernwood, brothers Jack Lisenmier of Yerington, NV and Carl F. “Rick” Penner Jr. of Midway, Utah. Also surviving is his step-brother Gordon Mowles of Stockton, CA and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at the Emida Cemetery, Emida, ID. a Potluck gathering of family and friends will follow at the Emida Comm. Center. An account is being set up at Wells Fargo Bank in his name to help defray the costs of his funeral wishes. Any excess funds raised will be donated to Hope’s Haven Red Barn.
