Obituary of Bennie Wynn Suenkel

Bennie Wynn Suenkel (70) resident of St. Maries, ID passed away at his home on February 1, 2016. He was born to Warren and Dorothy (Taylor) Suenkel in Colfax, WA on October 20, 1945. Bennie grew up in St. Maries, ID. His parents divorced and his mother married Warren Suenkel. Warren adopted Bennie when he was a child. The family moved around from Idaho to Wisconsin. Following high school, Bennie enlisted into the Navy in Green Bay Wisconsin. He served on the USS Little Rock CLG and was stationed in New England. After serving in the Navy, he was discharged in Norfolk, VA. Bennie relocated to Seattle, WA where he went to work in a factory and bartended part time. Bartending led him to long haul truck driving. Later Bennie decided he wanted to move back to the St. Maries and he moved to Avery, ID. While he was in Avery he met his love Dorothy Moore. They married on August 17, 1995 in Wallace, ID. Bennie logged for various logging companies in Avery working as a sawyer for all of them. Bennie and Dorothy moved to St. Maries and he went to work for the State of Idaho in their highway department. Bennie later retired in 2008. During his retirement he lived to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and his 2 grandchildren. Bennie is survived by his wife Dorothy Moore-Suenkel at the family home, and sons Danny Moore and Michael Moore of St. Maries, ID, Doug Moore of Nampa, ID, and Kim Moore of Spokane, WA. He is also survived by his sister Becky Collins of Coeur d’ Alene, ID, and 2 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents. At Bennie’s request there will be no services.
