Obituary of William Erick Badgley

William E. Badgley (78) resident of St. Maries, ID, died May 4 2016 at his home in St. Maries. He was born March 4, 1938 to William and Katherine (Lundquist) Badgley at Spokane, WA. Bill grew up in the Troy-Deary, Idaho area. He attended grade school at Troy, ID. Bill graduated from Moscow High School with the class of 1956. Following his graduation, Bill worked at the Troy Lumber yard. He married Ruth Carlson on May 2, 1964 at Coeur d’ Alene, ID. They made their home at Moscow where he continued to work for the lumber co. He moved to Shelby, MT in 1965 to work on an oil drilling rig. The following year, he moved to Coeur d’ Alene to work for Idaho Forest Industries. From 1975 to 1977, Bill worked for Idaho Garnet (a division of Sunshine Mine Co.) at Fernwood, ID. From 1978 to 1985, Bill worked for Diamond International at Fernwood as a de-barker operator. During the winters from 1980 through 1983, he worked in Resource Management for the North South Ski Bowl. Bill divorced in 1990 and he and Ruth remained good friends throughout the years. Bill went to work as a mechanic for Regulus Stud Mills, Inc. in 1991, and later a Boiler Operator. He was forced into retirement when he fell on the job in 1997 and became disabled. In his retirement, Bill enjoyed computers, model railroading, painting art, collecting guns, and he was an avid reader of history. Bill is survived by his son William W. Badgley of Fernwood, ID and son and daughter-in-law Keith and Becky Badgley of Orange, MA. Bill is also survived by four grandchildren. A memorial service for Bill may be planned at a later date to be announced.
