Obituary of Diana Lynn Wilson-McMenamy

Diana Wilson-McMenamy (53) passed away May 16, 2016 at her home in Tensed, ID. Diana was a beloved mom, wife, sister, Nanama, and friend. She had an unbreakable spirit and was known to many as a rebel. Diana was a lifelong resident of Idaho and long-time resident of Benewah County. Diana was born in Baker, OR to Bertha Mae Haughton and Sammy James Wilson on February 16, 1963. Diana was the youngest of three children; she had two brothers Danny Lee and James (Jimmy) Wilson. Diana pioneered as one of the first female construction workers for 15 years in the 1980s. Including but not limited to hanging iron and crane operator. Diana was proud of her career in the iron workers union and was a past member of local 14. She was also one of the first women in the nation to be certified to operate a Manotowac crane. She was an expert welder, phlebotomist, entrepreneur, and stay at home mom. She gained experience in many areas and continued to pick up trades through the years; she was a woman of extraordinary talents and skills. She was known best for her business as a satellite installer known as The Dish Chick, which she had built up for 7 years, as well as her convenience store outside of Potlatch known as Wilson’s Sport Stop. She was a hard worker and a force to be reckoned with. Diana was an artful spirit and enjoyed designing and creating jewelry, gardening, and spending time with her friends and family. She met her husband Michael Alan McMenamy installing a satellite at his home where the two made an instant connection. They were married September 16, 2006 and were inseparable. They took a job for 5 years in California then returned to their home in Tensed, ID where they could be close to her children and grandchildren. Diana is survived by her husband Michael Alan McMenamy at the family home, daughters Rabecka Wilson and Nichole Parker of St. Maries, and Madame Teresa Parker of Spokane Valley. Also surviving are grandchildren Haylee, Kyrstin, Lucas, Calliope, and Sequoia; niece Jessica Wilson and nephew Daniel Wilson; father Sam Wilson of Caldwell ID and brother Jim Wilson of Mountain Home, ID. She was preceded in death by her mother Bertha Mae Haughton Wilson and brother Dan Wilson. In honor of Diana Lynn Wilson-McMenamy, friends and family are encouraged to come and celebrate the life she lived so very fully. We are doing a potluck at Sanders Community Church Camp, June 25th around 1pm located in Tensed. We will be doing a slide show, telling stories, and having a celebration in her honor. This is an alcohol free event but please bring your favorite dish for our potluck on Sat, your favorite memory, and smile to share. “What the caterpillar perceives at the end, to the butterfly is just the beginning”
