Obituary of McClaine Ray Holt

McClaine “Mack” Ray Holt (84) resident of Plummer, Idaho passed away at North Idaho Hospice House on June 18, 2016. He was born on February 20, 1932 to Leo and Mary Holt in Upalco, UT. He grew up in Utah and as a teenager he went to work for a Sheep Herder. Mack quit high school and enlisted into the United States Navy on March 10, 1949 in Spanish Fork, UT. Mack was a Teletype Operator in the radio room while in the Navy. He served as a Telemann, Third Class on the USS Kula Gulf and was sent to Korea; however the ship was given orders to turn around and come back home. Mack was discharged June 14, 1954. Following his time in the military, Mack went to work for Safeway and then went to work driving truck for Garrett Trucking. He married Patsy Hauthorne on March 30, 1955 and the couple started their family having 6 boys. Mack later went to work driving truck for PIE. In January of 1980 Mack and Patsy were divorced. Mack met Lola Moore-Tucker in Ontario, OR, and the couple married on March 17, 1980 in Murray, UT. They lived in West Jordan, UT before PIE relocated the couple to Kingston, Idaho. Mack was in a truck wreck that forced him into retirement. Once he healed from his injuries, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and all the outdoors had to offer. He enjoyed sitting on his back deck watching the wildlife and feeding the birds. Mack loved his dog Booba-Ray. Mack is survived by his sons Steven (Peggy) Holt, William (Katherine) Holt, Michael (Laurie) Holt, and Richard Holt all of Utah and Robert (Sara) Holt of Burley, ID; step-daughters Tammara (Rick) VanTuryl of Kansas, Kristy (Bob) Davis, and Jo Nelson of Payette, Idaho, and Lori (Mark) Gunther of Colorado; brother Wayne (Rolaine) Holt, and sister Blanche (Sterling) Hamsen, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son Donald Holt, sister Darlene Holt, and one grandson. A funeral service is planned for Thursday June 23, 2016 at 11:00 am at Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries, ID. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery with a gathering of family and friends at the Benewah County Fairgrounds in St. Maries, ID.
