Obituary of Richard John Shatzer

Richard “Dick” John Shatzer (70) passed away on September 11, 2016 in an accident near his home in St. Maries, ID. He was born to Wilson and Veanno Shatzer on October 20, 1945 in Lewiston, ID. In his childhood Dick attended elementary school in Spokane, WA and graduated high school in Springdale, WA. Following high school, Dick enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. He served in Vietnam before returning home. Once he returned home, Dick went to work with his father as an Electrician. He later went to work for Local 370 as a crane operator in construction. Dick met Jackie at Chattaroy Hills Restaurant in Chattaroy, WA while she was working there. Work brought Dick to St. Maries building bridges up the St. Joe River Road, so the couple relocated to St. Maries and married in 1987. Dick worked for Local 370 for 33 years before retiring in 2002. In Dick’s retirement, he went to work for Borgmann Logging driving dump truck. He worked for Borgmann’s for 5 years before officially retiring. He enjoyed 4 wheeling in the mountains, hunting, fishing, and taking care of his animals. Dick is survived by his wife Jackie at the family home; children Ramona Rainbolt, Laurie Shatzer, and Todd Shatzer; step-sons Tom and Staci Truscott and Doug and Stephanie Truscott both of St. Maries, ID. Also surviving are his brother Bud Shatzer of Arlington, VA; sister Doris Shatzer of Sacramento, CA; and 8 grandchildren. No services are planned at this time.
