Paul Kolar

Obituary of Paul Joseph Kolar

Paul Joseph Kolar was born in St. Maries, Idaho on February 7, 1979 to John and Kathy Kolar. He was taken from us on December 18, 2016 at the age of 37. Paul grew up in Plummer, Idaho where he graduated from Lakeside High School in 1997. He served in the US Navy in Hawaii and later studied art at Eastern Oregon University. In May of 2016, he was awarded the All-Campus Juried Student Exhibition Best 3D Work at Nightingale Gallery. He has done various side jobs including mill work, lumber yardman, sculpting and tattoing. He aspired to own his own tattoo business. Paul was a loving father, son, brother and uncle. He enjoyed drawing, painting, sculpting, outdoor activities, hunting, and playing the guitar accompanied by his vocals and self-written lyrics. He was truly passionate about artistry and took great pride in his work. He's done several very articulate chainsaw carvings and sculptures. His artistic abilities are admired and treasured by family and friends. Paul was lively, animated and spirited in a manner that drew people to him. He had a special way with children and was very sentimental regarding his family and home. He has definitely left his mark on family and friends. Paul was thoughtful and philosophical, his favorite quote was, "...you should not judge a man by the height which he has climbed, but from the depths from which he has risen..." Paul is survived by his son, Cadence Forbes; step-daughter London Fox and her mother Robin Fox; parents, John and Kathy Kolar; brothers Mathew Kolar, Mark Kolar, Luke Kolar and Adam Kolar; sisters Deanne Mellen, Christine Hodgson and Mary Gentry; and many nieces and nephews. He is loved and will be missed more than we can express. May you rest in peace Paul Joseph. Rosary will be December 27 at 7pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Plummer, ID. Funeral service will also be held there on December 28 at 11am with Father Bob Erickson officiating. A reception will follow, site to be announced at services. The family suggests memorials be sent to Christmas Families Coalition in honor of Paul Kolar - Umpqua Bank, PO Box 285, Plummer, ID 83851.
