Obituary of Carma Mae Ettl

Carma M. Ettl died April 4, 2017 at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. She was born the 4th child to Everett Ray Walden and Zelma May (Jones) Walden on July 28, 1944 in Gooding County at Wendell, Idaho as that was where the hospital was. Her family lived in Jerome, ID at the time. Carma attended school in Jerome, Santa, and St. Maries. She graduated from St. Maries High School with the class of 1962. She later moved to Sutter, California where her parents had moved to. She met George Zehner who was a Navy man her brother brought home to meet his family. They were married in October 1964; however the marriage ended in divorce. She later married William Ettl on February 3, 1968 in Rough and Ready, California. Carma worked as a telephone operator until telecommunications changed over to automatic services. She then went to work for an answering service. After her husband died on November 3, 1993 and her son was raised and out on his own, she left her position at the answering service. Carma moved back to Idaho, and went to work at the University Inn in Moscow as a prep cook. She retired from that position and moved to Emida, Idaho to live with and help her mother Zelma Walden. She lived in Emida until her hospital stay. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and 2 sons. Also preceding are 2 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by one son Larry and LeeAnn Ettl of Pullman, WA, 4 sisters Donna (Bucky Wayne) Fuller and Lois Reeves of Emida, ID. Elva (Kirby) Holbrook of Spirit Lake, ID, and Leola (Dennis) Boyd of Lefors, TX; one brother Merle (Denise) Walden of Black Lake, ID; numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service is planned for May 13, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Emida Community Center. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Emida Community Center 130 S. Station Ave. St. Maries, ID 83861 or to the Emida Fire Department 45 S. Emida Ave. St. Maries, ID 83861.
