Obituary of Carol Marie Schmedding

   

Carol Marie Gerkensmeyer-Schmedding (62) resident of St. Maries, ID, died October 7, 2017 at her home near St. Maries. She was born August 11, 1955 to Ted and Georgia (McDaniel) Gerkensmeyer in Spokane, WA.

Carol was raised in Spokane and graduated from North Central High School with the class of 1973. She went on to attend Spokane Falls Comm. College where she received her AA degree. She then went obtained her cosmetology license. Carol converted the basement of her home into a beauty shop and worked from her for home for over 20 years.

Carol was a single mother and she worked hard to make sure her son had everything that two parents could provide. She was injured in a snowmobile accident that damaged her shoulder and forced into an early retirement.

She and her husband owned Budget and Arbor Logging in Spokane. They built their home on the St. Joe River where she loved being at home. She was divorced earlier this year.

Carol was an avid animal lover, and enjoyed her dogs. They were her “fur” babies. Carol also enjoyed cooking and was an excellent cook and was known for the Gumbo she made.

Carol is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Neal and Brandi Perkins of Spokane, WA., her 2 brothers David (Sue) Gerkensmeyer of the Richland, WA and Jack (Trudy) Koeneman of Heron, MT. Also surviving are grandson Devon Perkins and step grandson Andrue Jack as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Carol will be held at her home in St. Maries, Idaho on October 21st 2017 at 2:00 PM so family and friends can celebrate her life.
