Gerald Francis Miller (83) lifelong St. Maries, ID resident passed away at his home on April 9, 2021. He was born to Glen and Orpha Miller on August 2, 1937 in St. Maries. Gerald grew up in St. Maries attending St. Maries High School. He left high school to enlist into the U.S. Army, serving in Korea. After he was honorably discharged, he returned to St. Maries. Upon his return to St. Maries, Gerald went to work for the U.S. Forest Service. He was a log scaler and worked in Avery, Clarkia, and St. Maries – the IFI Landing and Buell’s landing under the bridge specifically. He retired around 2000 after working for the Forest Service for 40 + years. In 1969 Gerald married the love of his life Margaret and they had 2 boys, Gerald and Brian. She passed away in 2015. Gerald was an avid yard sale shopper, and he collected all sorts of antiques such as oil lamps, clocks, and watches. He also enjoyed collecting guns and coins. Over the years he spent a lot of time watching his kids’ ball games and even coaching. He was immensely proud of his grandchildren and saved every newspaper clipping on their accomplishments in the local paper. Gerald is survived by his children Gerald Miller of Post Falls, ID and Brian (Jenifer) Miller of St. Maries, ID, Curtis Osborn of St. Maries, ID, Debra Osborn of St. Maries, ID, and LaVonne Scott of Federal Way, WA; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, numerous nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret Miller, and brother Jim Miller. t his request there will be no services.
