Spencer Blodgett

Obituary of Spencer Leo Blodgett

Spencer Leo Blodgett (59) longtime St. Maries, ID resident passed away at Benewah Community Hospital on December 17, 2024.  He was born to Ron and Juanita Blodgett on November 29, 1965, in St. Maries, ID.  Leo grew up in St. Maries and attended school there.  He left before graduation and moved to Wisconsin to be with other members of his family.  It was in Wisconsin where he enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1983.

Leo served 4 years in the Army, also serving a Hardship Tour.  When he was honorably discharged in 1987, Leo returned to St. Maries where he went to work for Regulus Stud Mills, Inc.  After 12 years with Regulus, Leo worked several different jobs to support himself over the years.  He was talented in many areas, holding positions in construction, mechanic and maintenance, gold mining, and the State of Idaho’s Fish and Game department.  In 2002 he met the love of his life and his best friend Alicia Arellano.  The couple relocated to Wisconsin to have a fresh start.  They married in 2007 and he not only became a loving husband, but he became a dedicated bonus dad to Alicia’s children.  They lived in Wisconsin until 2014 when they decided to come home and be closer to their St. Maries family.

Leo was a loving and forgiving husband, showing Alicia what true love was.  He brought kindness and a smile to many holding his dear friends close to his heart.  An avid outdoorsman, Leo enjoyed hunting, fishing, walking in the woods, and rock hounding, creating several rock beds and sharing his passion for them. He had a soft spot for babies and treasured all of his friends treating them like family.  Over the 59 years of his life, he led a very eventful life full of experiences and life lessons.  Because of this, he was a better man and was always evolving into the man he became. He deeply loved his family, friends, and life, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  Faith was also important to him, and he knew the bible.

Leo is survived by his wife Alicia at their home in St. Maries; bonus children Mitch Randall and Cody Randall both of Oregon and Kyle Randall of St. Maries; stepfather John Nigh of St. Maries; mother in-law Judy Kerr of St. Maries; and sister in-law Erica Kerr.  He is preceded in death by his father Ronald Blodgett, mother Juanita Nigh, and brother Troy Green Sr.

Military services and a celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
