Obituary of Steven Eugene Klimpel
Steven Eugene Klimpel (69) resident of St. Maries, ID passed away at Kootenai Health on April 11, 2025, with family by his side. He was born to Sheldon and Marylane Klimpel on October 15, 1955, in Minot, ND. Steven grew up in Butte, MT and attended school there.
Following his schooling, he enlisted in the US Army serving several years. When he was honorably discharged, he returned home to Butte and was married a couple of times. He held odd jobs around Butte before he moved to Alaska to work as a Driller in the oil industry. After a few years in Alaska, he moved to Reno, NV where he went to work as a roofer. 5 years into his career, a fall created in injury that forced him to quit work. At this time, he moved to Idaho Falls and went to work as a cook. Looking to be closer to his children, he moved to Iowa and then to Great Falls, MT to be with his brother. With failing health, he moved to a rehabilitation center in Clancy, MT to get well. Once he was well, he moved to St. Maries, ID to be near his daughter.
Steven loved going to Rigby Lake, and the family made memories of bon fires and picnics. He enjoyed drinking with his friends and having a good time. When he lived in Nevada, he enjoyed going to the casinos to gamble and catch a good show. Once in North Idaho, he fell in love with the lake in Harrison, ID and never missed a 4th of July celebration there. Steven was an avid collector of Bald Eagles; he found them fascinating. Most importantly, he loved his grandchildren and spending time with them.
Steven is survived by his children Jennifer Peet of Helena, MT, Angela Klimpel of Butte, MT, Randi (Freddie) Docken of Fernwood, ID, and Stevie Klimpel of Columbus, MT; siblings Shelly Mikes of Reno, NV, Paul Klimpel of Butte, MT, and Todd Klimpel of Great Falls, MT; 19 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; son Jonathan Peet; and brother Joe Klimpel.
