Obituary of Rocky D. Boatwright
Rocky D. Boatwright (55) passed away April 2025 near Plummer, ID. He was born to Rocky and Betty (Duvall) Boatwright on December 17, 1969, in Sacramento, CA. Rocky grew up in Stockton, CA and attended school there. When he was a Junior, he decided schooling was not for him, so later moved to Sacramento and went to work.
Rocky worked various jobs including a mattress factory, carpentry in home construction and HVAC. He joined his life with Cassie Kenison and took on helping raise her daughter Mary and loving her like his own. The couple spent many years together, and when they parted ways, they remained great friends who cared deeply for one another.
In December 2015, Rocky moved with his family to St. Maries, ID to be closer to other members of the family. Rocky worked odd jobs in construction and landscaping for some of the local landlords in town. Playing instruments and music was his passion. He played the piano, drums, and guitar. Although he thought he could sing, none of his family had the heart to tell him to stick to playing just the instruments. Rocky was a little wild at heart and loved the freedom he got from motorcycle rides, spending time in nature, camping, and hanging out with friends and family near a fire. Rocky was never an avid fisherman, but he liked trying. Never having ever caught a fish, the first fish he caught in North Idaho was a good-sized pike; however, he quickly found out he didn’t know how to cook it. He also liked his jewelry, and he even created some of his own; his favorite was silver and stones.
Rocky is survived by his mother Betty Boatwright of St. Maries, ID; daughter Mary (Cory) Aker of Rocklin, CA; brother James (Jennifer) Boatwright; 5 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Rocky Boatwright and sister Veronica Cross.
A Potluck Celebration of Rocky’s life will be on May 3, 2025, at Noon at Cherry Bend Boat Park. Please bring your favorite dish or dessert along with love and laughter to celebrate his life.
