Veva June Baysinger Linhart (78), a resident of St. Maries, Idaho, and former resident of the Silver Valley, passed away at home on February 7, 2026. Veva was born on February 22, 1948, in Wallace, Idaho, to Clifton and Carlene Baysinger.
Veva grew up in the Silver Valley and attended high school in Kingston. In 1966 she married Jerry Linhart. Together they started a family, and although the marriage later ended in divorce, Veva’s greatest role and pride in life was being a mother. Most of her years were spent in Pinehurst and Kellogg, where she stayed home to care for her four children. As a single mother she was blessed with help from her best friend Pamela Brown.
Veva was a constant presence in her children’s lives. No matter the circumstances—good or bad—she remained supportive and devoted, always showing up for her kids in the ways that mattered most.
In 2011, Veva began experiencing health issues, and she invited her son Robert into her home so he could care for her. In 2018, she moved to St. Maries to live with her daughter Shay, who continued to provide her with care. These were decisions her children never regretted, and they were honored to be able to care for their mother.
Veva lived a simple life and found joy in everyday moments. She loved yard sales, drinking coffee with her family, and playing games together. Ten-Thousand and Pinochle were among her favorites, and she enjoyed board games of all kinds with her children and grandchildren, including Chinese Checkers, Parcheesi, Monopoly, and Uno.
She was a talented baker who shared her love through food. Her family treasured her homemade treats, including divinity, fudge, bon bons, and the many pies she baked each Christmas—sometimes as many as fifty. Christmas was especially dear to her, from setting up her Christmas village to finding any excuse to buy someone a gift.
Veva had a deep affection for children and loved them whether they were hers or not. She enjoyed collecting many things, with a special passion for Elvis memorabilia, and she took great joy in both her collection and his music.
Veva is survived by her children, Robert Linhart of Kellogg, Idaho; Shannon Linhart of Missoula, Montana; Rainee Linhart of Kellogg, Idaho; and Shay (Lee) Utecht of St. Maries, Idaho; her grandchildren Samantha, Levi, Ryan, and Tazzalyn; her nieces Polly and Pat; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Carlene Baysinger; her brother Niles Baysinger; her nephew Cliff Baysinger; and her niece Pamela Sanders.
At this time, no services are planned for Veva.
