Michael L. Waddell Obituary
Michael L. Waddell (75), a beloved resident of St. Maries, Idaho, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on April 10, 2026.
Mike was born on February 15, 1951, in Pontiac, Michigan, to James and Anna Waddell. He spent his early years in Michigan before moving to Red Bluff, California in 1968, where he began building the life that would come to define him—one rooted in hard work, family, and laughter.
Mike’s career began at a young age in construction, where he quickly developed a strong work ethic and a gift for working with his hands. Over the years, he dug wells, built homes, and worked for Sierra-Pacific, taking pride in every project he touched. In 1972, he married the love of his life, Jackie Timmons, and together they built a life filled with devotion, adventure, and family. They raised two children and were deeply involved in their lives, especially through youth sports. Mike found great joy in coaching and supporting softball and baseball, and he was especially proud to help host the annual James H. Waddell Softball Tournament—a tradition that brought family and community together.
In 1997, Mike and his family made their home in St. Maries, Idaho. He continued his work in carpentry and construction, including time with Gene Binkley, Interstate Drilling, and later assisting Mia Suchoski with property clean-up. No matter the job, Mike was known for his reliability, craftsmanship, and willingness to lend a hand.
In 2018, an accident left Mike disabled, bringing an end to his working years—but never dimming his spirit. When he was able, Mike loved spending time outdoors hunting and fishing, playing his guitar, gathering around bonfires, and attending local Barter Fairs. He was a talented woodworker who created many cherished pieces for his family, including shelves, birdhouses, and wishing wells—each one made with care and love.
Mike was, at heart, a big kid with an even bigger heart. He had a deep love for children and found joy in making people laugh. A natural jokester, he was known for his playful pranks—whether sneaking up to scare his kids in the dark or keeping Hospice nurses on their toes with his humor even in his final days. His laughter and lighthearted spirit were gifts he shared freely with everyone around him.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Jackie, at their home in St. Maries; his children, Christina Waddell and Mikey Waddell, both of St. Maries; his siblings Jim (Sandy) Waddell, Randy (Jenny) Waddell, Jerry Waddell, Tim (Jeanette) Waddell, Butch (Sarah) Waddell, Jeannie (Randy) Rosen, Laura Waddell, and Sandy Waddell, all of Red Bluff, California, and Kevin (Lynne) Waddell of St. Maries; his grandchildren Brandy Holt, Kristen Womack, and Cooper Sines; and his great-grandson Gregory Turner. He also leaves behind his beloved fur companions, Winston, Honey, and Penny.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Carol Browen, Susie Franks, and Bertha Ables; and his son-in-law, Brent Sines.
Mike will be remembered for the life he built with his hands, the love he gave without hesitation, and the laughter he left echoing in the hearts of those who knew him. No services are scheduled at this time.
