Patricia Mae Spurgeon Obituary

Patricia Mae Spurgeon, 91, passed away peacefully on 4/11/2026 at Valley Vista Care Center of Saint Maries, Idaho.  She was born on 5/6/1934 to Leola Kathleen Gallagher and Gerald Cornelius Curtis of Receda, California. Both of her parents were originally from Chicago, Illinois and traveled west to California and raised Patti and her four siblings, June, Ruth, Gerri and Mike primarily in San Anselmo, California.

Patti attended grade school in San Anselmo and was a 1952 Graduate of Drake High School.  She attended the College of Marin in the evening to obtain her health care certifications and loved her psychology classes.

She was a very special, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  Family was everything to her and her life mission was to care for her family, friendships, and everyone she came in contact with.  She was a true free spirit and devoted family matriarch with a fantastic sense of humor and the most amazing smile.

Patti was married to Fred James Tuck Sr. and was very involved in his Navel career where he was stationed, Treasure Island, San Francisco, Ca.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of San Anselmo; Adeline E. Kent PTA; Boy and Girl Scouts of America.  In the summer the family spent their time at Odd Fellows Recreation Club, located in between Forestville and Guerneville, Ca. where they enjoyed the Russian River, going to Bingo, fashion shows, Sunday Baseball and hiking the trails and an occasional trip to the ocean.

After raising her 4 children, Kenneth Gerald Cavasso (deceased), Donna Patricia Hays (Tuck), Fred James (Jim) Tuck Jr, and Dianne (DeDe) Ruth Cool (Tuck) she began a career in health care where she met her husband, Troy Spurgeon (deceased) at Center Medical Hospital (AKA Kentfield Hospital) located in Kentfield, Ca. in the 1970’s.

During her marriage to Troy, they traveled extensively during the period 1974 to 1992 and worked as security and caretakers of notable families, such as the Dan and Jean Mahoney family of Stanley, Id.; the Joe and Kay Albertson family of Boise, Id.; the Albert and Sandy Seeno Jr. family of Concord, Ca.; and the Sokoloff family of Bedford, NY.

While in Stanley, she became a certified EMT under the tutelage of Marie Osborn, Nurse Practitioner and a pioneer of Stanley, Idaho in the 1970’s who established a medical clinic in the very small town of Stanley.

She was a very thoughtful and giving person and even saved some ones life by doing the Heimlich maneuver when the man at the table next to her began choking, she was awarded a plaque from the local sheriffs office for her life saving actions.

Cooking and baking were a passion and loving tradition. Every Christmas, she would send out boxes of homemade cookies to everyone.  She also loved entertaining and Thursday night dinners were very special to her where we would take turns making dinner and get together after work at her condo in Spokane.

Once she could not stay by herself, she came to live with Mike and Donna Hays in Saint Maries, Idaho and loved being back on the river with all of the beautiful scenery in the Saint Maries area.  After a time, she moved to Valley Vista Care Center of Saint Maries and enjoyed the staff and residents. She made fast friends and loved to say “Hi” to everyone during her out -and- about walks with her family, caregivers and physical therapists. She will be missed by everyone there.

Patti is  survived by her Sister, Geraldine Koeberer of Santa Rosa, Ca. and Brother, Michael Curtis of Redding, Ca.;  many nieces and nephews; her children, Donna Tuck Hays (Mike) of Saint Maries, Id., Jim Tuck (Cindy) of Middleton, Id., and DeDe Cool of Guerneville, Ca.; her grandchildren, Arisa Cavasso McRoberts (Danny) of Boise, Id., Lisa Patricia Mattausch (Brian) of Deer Park, Wa., Kenneth Gerald Cavasso Jr. (Anna) of Middleton, Id., Jennilee Kathleen Flock (Dan) of Spokane, Wa., Tyler Tuck (Amanda) of Middleton, Id., Kallee Mae Cool of Spokane, Wa., Courtney O’Dell (Mitchell) of Middleton, Id., Emily Stinebaugh (Logan) of Middleton, Id., and Alexander Tuck of Boise, Id.; her great grandchildren, Jacob McRoberts (Bridgette) of Boise, Id., but currently serving in the military and deployed to Jordan, Asia, Tiffanie Gonzales (Justin) of Caldwell, Id., Nicholas McRoberts (Dakota) of Boise, Id., Maverick Flock of Spokane, Wa., Kenneth Gerald Cavasso III (K3) of Middleton, Id., Maxwell Cavasso of Middleton, Id., Madelyn Mattausch of Deer Park, Wa., Olivia Kathleen Flock of Spokane, Wa., Greyson Mattausch of Deer Park, Wa., Laine Tuck of Middleton, Id., Taitum Tuck of Middleton, Id., Stevie Mae Tuck of Middleton, Id., Henry Stinebaugh of Middleton, Id., Eleanor O'Dell of Middleton, Id., and Emery Mae Risinger of Spokane, Wa.; her great great grandchildren, Jaxon Mooney of Caldwell, Id., Cole McRoberts of Boise, Id., Asher McRoberts of Boise, Id., Kai McRoberts of Boise, Id., and Macy McRoberts of Boise, Id.
