Philip Rodney Lampert Obituary
Philip Rodney Lampert (74), a lifelong farmer, devoted family man, and highly respected public servant, passed away on May 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Phil was born on November 16, 1951, in Spokane, Washington, to Ralph and Ilda Lampert. He spent his early years in Worley, Idaho, before his family immigrated to Plummer when he was five years old. It was there that Phil’s roots in agriculture took hold, growing up on the family farm and participating in FFA. He graduated from Plummer High School with the Class of 1970 and, just a year later in 1971, proudly took over the family farm—continuing a legacy that would define much of his life.
Phil furthered his education at the University of Idaho, earning a degree in Applied Science in Agriculture, strengthening the knowledge and passion he brought back to the land he loved.
On August 7, 1986, Phil married the love of his life, Connie Kremin, in a small church in Plummer. They celebrated with a reception on the family farm before taking off from Lampert International Airport in a small plane, piloted by Phil himself, to McCall for their honeymoon. Aviation was one of Phil’s lifelong passions; he began flying at the age of 14 and earned his pilot’s license at 18.
Together, Phil and Connie built a life rooted in family, faith, and community. Their home on the farm was always full raising their children and grandchildren, hosting five exchange students, and opening their doors to many “adopted” kids over the years. Anyone who walked through their door was treated like family. Phil was the kind of man who would do anything for anyone.
A true servant of his community, Phil dedicated countless hours to public service. He was involved with the Idaho Wheat Growers Commission (retiring at the age of 30), National Wheat Growers Commission, served many years on the Benewah County Fair Board, the Gateway Highway District Board, Gateway Soil Conservation, and in 2011 was elected as a Benewah County Commissioner. He served with integrity and commitment until 2026, when he stepped down following his illness with cancer.
Outside of his work and service, Phil embraced life with enthusiasm. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting (especially elk), fishing, snowmobiling, water skiing, snow skiing, and spending time on the water in his boat. He found joy in flying, in the mountains, and in the simple beauty of North Idaho.
Above all, Phil treasured his family. Gatherings were a cornerstone of his life, filled with laughter, stories, hayrides, and tradition. He especially loved the Fourth of July, complete with fireworks and bonfires. Phil had a zest for life that was contagious, a unique and often mischievous sense of humor, and a way of making every moment feel special.
He lived a full and meaningful life, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, service, and love. His family holds close countless memories of adventures, laughter, and the steady presence of a man who gave so much to so many.
Phil will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the entire Benewah County community.
He is survived by his beloved wife Connie at their home in Plummer; children Sarah Lampert (Sebastian Cabezas) of Plummer, Elizabeth Mokry (Trevor) of Plummer, ID, Bryon Lampert of Plummer, and Julene Morris (Mark) of Culdesac, ID; sisters Sharon Mendle (Glen) of Dayton, WA and Patty Lindsey (Dave Buswell) of Hayden, ID; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A private burial was held, and a public celebration of Phil’s life will be on June 6, 2026 with time and place to be announced.
Phil’s life was one of purpose, service, and unwavering love for his family and community. Though he may be gone from our sight, his legacy lives on in the fields he tended, the lives he touched, and the community he helped shape. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and never replaced.
