Obituary of Wilfred John Ducommun

Wilfred John Ducommun, 89, went to be with the Lord on December 10, 2010 in St. Maries, ID. He was born November 17, 1921 to John and Jeanne (Jacot) Ducommun at the family home, at Omega. He grew up in St. Maries and attended the Omega School District No. 5, a one room school through the 8th grade. While growing up he worked on the family farm. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was stationed in Europe. He received an Honorable Discharge on October 18, 1945. On September 10, 1945 he married his sweetheart, Gladyce Smiley in St. Maries. They lived on the family farm where they raised beef cattle. He worked for Mueller Brothers Logging, as well as Krieg's Hardware. In 1974 he went to work for the St. Maries Complex of Potlatch Corp. retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Omega Gospel Hall. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. In recent years he enjoyed riding 4-wheelers. He is survived by his daughter Audrey Brown of Brentwood, California, his son's and daughter-in-law's Dennis and Jocelyne Ducommun of Post Falls, Tim and Jean Ducommun of St. Maries, and his daughter Karen Barber of Pacifica, California. Also surviving are his brother and sister-in-law Vernon and Pat Ducommun of St. Maries, and his sister Marjorie Scheidecker of Iowa. Wilfred was blessed with 7 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife on April 28, 2000, and a daughter Kathryn Ducommun, his daughter-in-law Priscilla Ducommun, two sons-in-laws, Fred Brown and Steve Barber and his brother Lawrence Ducommun. Service to be held at the Presbyterian Church in St. Maries, Friday December 17th at 11:00 o'clock.
