Obituary of Carlos Henry Carrillo

Carlos Henry Carrillo Sr. (70) of Van Nuys, California suffered from heart failure and died peacefully at his daughter Loretta's home in DeSmet, ID on April 8, 2016.  He was born to Carlos and Sarah (Buelnas) Carrillo in Van Nuys, CA on July 28, 1945.  Carlos grew up in Van Nuys, and as a young man he performed various odd jobs to support himself. Carlos married Patricia Spencer and they had three children together: Bonnie, Delores and Ruben.  Carlos and Pat divorced in 1979. He worked as a mechanic for General Motors in Van Nuys and later for Lance Campers in North Hollywood.   He worked several years for Main Tool and Die Co. as a truck driver. Carlos married Louise Denny in 1985. They had four children together: Sarah, Loretta, Noah and Carlos, Jr.  The family made their home in North Hollywood and later moved to DeSmet, ID.  Carlos and Louise divorced in 1997. He remained in the area to be close to his children.  He worked various jobs which included maintenance for the Coeur d’ Alene Tribal Casino.  He developed many friendships there and enjoyed his job until health issues forced him into retirement. Carlos had a lifelong passion for classic cars.  He enjoyed restoring project cars, customizing cars in his artwork and collecting magazines.  Some of the vehicles he owned were a 1964 Chevy Impala, 1956 Chevy Bel Air and a 1955 Pontiac. Carlos is survived by his sons Ruben Carrillo of Palmdale, CA, Noah Carrillo of Bonners Ferry, ID, Carlos Carrillo, Jr. of DeSmet, ID; daughters Bonnie (Juan) Frias of Palmdale, CA, Delores "Lola" Carrillo of Palmdale, CA, Sarah (Tim) Freeburg of Worley, ID, Loretta Carrillo (William McJoe) of DeSmet, ID; sisters Viola Ortiz, Irene Frizzell, Victoria Carrillo, Linda Carter and Jessie Visarraga. 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  Carlos is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Bernie, Phillip, and Eugene Carrillo and his sisters Yolanda, Debbie, and Bernadette.
