Obituary of Diane Marie Carpenter

Diane Marie Carpenter (65) longtime resident of St. Maries, died Oct. 2, 2016 at her home in St. Maries. She was born January 3, 1951 to Eugene and Mary (Oliver) Shepard at Missoula, MT. Diane grew up between St. Maries and Ronan, MT. She left school at an early age to stay home and help raise the family’s farm animals. In 1968 Diane moved with her family to Harrison, ID. She married William “Jack” McPherson in 1977 in St. Maries where they made their home. Diane was a housewife and raised her twin sons. Her husband died in 1999. She continued to be a homemaker and care for her family. Diane married Jeff Carpenter in 2002 in Coeur d’ Alene and they lived in St. Maries. They were divorced in 2012. Diane was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses Church. Diane loved horses. She enjoyed gardening and going fishing. She especially loved fishing off docks to catch perch, crappie and an occasional trout. Diane was well known for her famous Shrimp Pasta Salad. Diane enjoyed working word search puzzles. She had an extensive collection of classic Disney and Western movies. Diane loved to tell stories and will be remembered for her infectious laugh and the special love she had for her family. She is survived by daughter Rachel Shepard of St. Ignatius, MT and twin sons Chad McPherson of Livingston, Alabama and William McPherson of St. Maries. Also surviving are sisters Denniece Lockett of St. Ignatius, MT, Renee Shepard and Debra Eldredge of Spokane, WA and Debbie and Clint Croson of St. Maries. ID. Her brothers John (Joann) Shepard of Sterling, AK, Kenny Shepard of St. Maries and Edward Jewett Jr. of Post Falls, ID and four grandchildren. Diane is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brother Steven Shepard and both her parents. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 2135 23rd Street , St. Maries, ID.
