Obituary of Zelma May Walden

Zelma May Walden (94) resident of Emdia, ID died March 6, 2017 in St. Maries, ID. She was born April 20, 1922 to Leonard and Halcie (Cody) Jones in Blackfoot, ID. She grew up in Basalt, ID where she attended school. When she was 14, she moved to Southern Idaho where she lived in various small towns. She married Everett Walden on November 22, 1937 in Gooding, ID. They moved to Whittier, CA for 1 year and then moved back to Idaho in the Shoshone area. Zelma and her husband made several moves between Northern and Southern Idaho before settling in Santa, ID in 1954. Zelma and Everett returned to California in 1962 where she was a homemaker. Her husband died in 1971. Zelma moved to Emida, ID in 1974. She went to work for Benewah Community Hospital as a cook in 1978. She retired in 1983. Zelma is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Merle and Denise Walden of Black Lake, ID, her daughters and sons-in-law Donna and Wayne “Bucky” Fuller of Emida, ID, Elva and Kirby Holbrook of Spirit Lake, ID and Leola and Dennis Boyd of Lefors, TX. Also surviving are daughters Carma Ettl and Lois Reeves both of Emida, ID. She is also survived by her brother Norman Jones of Bolivar, MO, 32 grandchildren, 77 great grandchildren, and 37 great-great grandchildren. Zelma was preceded in death by her sons Wiley and Neil Walden, daughters Nita Agate and Naomi Kennedy, brothers Val and Richard Jones, sister Vera Randall, 5 grandsons and 4 great grandchildren. Graveside comital services will be Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Emida Cemetery. A celebration of her life will follow at 1:30 pm at the Emida Community Center with Floyd and Nancy Turner officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Community Center.
