Obituary of Dora R. Strand

Dora R. Strand (83) St. Maries Idaho native , died January 29, 2013 at St. Maries. She was born September 13, 1929 to Warren and Gertrude (Ward) Adams at St. Maries. She grew up in St. Maries. Dora married Louis Kurger on October 7, 1950 at Missoula, MT. She lived throughout North Idaho where ever her husband's logging business took the family. She worked as a bookkeeper for Kruger Brothers Logging for many years. She moved to Coeur d' Alene, ID in 1961. Her husband died in 1978. She married James Strand in 1978 at Coeur d' Alene, ID. They made their home at Post Falls, ID where she was a homemaker. Her husband died in 1990 and she returned to St. Maries in 1991. She became very good friends with Lewis Lott during this time and enjoyed attending many Masonic and Shrine functions together. Dora loved her cats. She enjoyed volunteer work and crocheting. She was a member of Eagles Aerie Auxiliary #2012, Post Falls V.F.W. Auxiliary # 3603 and was Past Noble Grand of the Post Falls Rebekah Lodge. Dora also served as Shepard # 42 L.E.A. Of IOOF and Past State President of the Idaho Dept. Assn. L.A.P.M. Dora is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Bob and Kaila Kruger of Clarkia, ID and daughter and son-in-law Mary Lou and Rick Carter of Scottsdale, AZ. Also surviving are her brothers Owen and wife Charlene Adams of E. Wenatchee, WA and John and wife Nancy Adams of St. Maries. Also surviving is her sister Patsy Maier of E. Wenatchee, WA as well as 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and her dear friend Harold Fisher of Pinehurst, ID. She was preceded in death by brothers Dennis "Butch" Adams, Edward, Kenneth, Delbert, Whitey and Raymond Adams and sisters Ellen Harwood, Margaret Ebert, Esther English and Ruth Adams. A celebration of her life will be on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Maries Eagles Lodge with Jeremy and Jackie Addington officiating. A reception will follow services. Dora suggested memorials to the donor's charity of choice. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Louis in Evergreen Cemetery, Post Falls, ID.
