Gil left a great big hole in the lives of anyone who has been blessed to have had the benefit of his friendship and kindnesses toward all who were open to his smile & humor. He will always be part of our small family's most wonderful memories. My heart goes out to Del, his family and Corrine. I have a car in the body shop & couldn't make it to his memorial.

What a shock to open the St.Maries Gazette (receiving it late in CA) and read of Gil"s passing. We only knew him for 5 yrs but felt like he was and old and dear friend. We will greatly miss him and the dinners we shared. Sanders Rd will not be the same, to drive by and wave to this wonderful man as he fixed fence. We send our condolences to his family.

Some of the best advice and most wonderful experiences in my life were from Gilbert Harris. I did not get to spend as much time as I would of liked with Gil, but he was a smart, genuine, and good natured man. I will always remember the times I had and many things I learned from him. Whether it was riding horses, building fence, or saving the "city-slickers" from the horse in the horse trailer he was always good at what he did and always willing to lend a hand. Rest in Peace Gil' you will never be forgotten!

It was a shock to hear that cousin Gil had passed away in his sleep. There is nothing but good memories when we think of Gil, whether talking to the twins out fixing fence or at the yearly family reunions or shoeing one of our horses. He was sure a loving, quiet man and will be missed and always loved. Our prayers go out to the family and friends. God bless.

It came as a shock and huge loss to hear about Gilburt's passing. I just cannot believe it~ he is like an icon at Sanders Road, and he will be dearly missed. I have countless memories of Gil. He was quiet, yet he could tease relentlessly~ he always asked, "so...what do you know?" and he listened to my answer. I always felt like we 3 sisters were his special friends, but after knowing him over the years, I realized that he made everyone feel like his special friend! and what a friend he was to many~ on Sander's Road, Emida, Fernwood, Plummer & Tekoa- those areas, Potlatch, St. Maries, and probably more communities than I know. He touched many people throughout his life through his humor, teasing & smile: I have countless fond memories~but who could forget Freckles?! How Gil taught her "Bang", play dead and "dead dogs don't wag their tails!" I can hear his understated chuckle right now! My sincere condolences to Del and his family

Words can not ease our sadness, but I want to share some of my many fond memories of Gil. The horse rides & chasing pink-eyed cows were the hightlights by far. I remember when we were teens, Gil took Bonnie and I in the big stock truck to Worley to shoe horses. That was so much fun! Getting off the bus & chatting with Gil and Del for an hour or so..more somethimes~I remember when we carved watermelons and put them up on the loading chute! I treasure all the precious times we had with Gil and I so appreciate Gil's generosity over the years- That Gil let us ride his horses and borrow his saddles anytime without asking made me feel like a trusted friend. Gil and Del have helped us out so much-I treasure all the long conversations and always looked forward to seeing them. I am going to miss him, especially when I go back to Sanders Rd. I regret I won't be at the memorial-I hope Gil knows how important he was to all of us.

For 2 people coming into a country and a community as strangers it is first of all scary and intimidating, but most of all lonely. Our close friend, Charles, introduced us to 2 of his closest and dearest friends, Gil and Del, and a wonderful friendship was formed.
These are the words that will always remain with us when we think of our friend Gil: KIND and always reliable, helpful, strong in his quiet unassuming way and a friend for life not just a moment.
To the family and friends, our hearts bleed with you and although we are across the World in a strange place "TODAY" we stand firm with all of you here in Emida our home.

It's been many years since i've seen Gil, but I have very vivid fond memories of when I did. It was always an exciting day when mom loaded up us kids and told us we where going to Emida to visit Gilbert and Delbert! The day usually consisted of a trail ride. Mom and I would argue over who got the old slow horse, we had so much fun. You will be missed very much Gil, my thought and prayers are with your family, may you rest in peace.
