Dear friends, I met Maria in more recent years but our kinship and joy was deeply rooted in a hometown we shared, Salzburg, Austria, and in a common faith. Through shared story, we traveled familiar streets, most especially Getriedegasse, and familiar landmarks close to where Maria was raised, by Hotel Stein. Maria's love of music was tapped in our visits through Sister Mary Frances Kluss. Dear Welch family, my love and prayer are with you! May you pause often in memory of your mother.
I want to share this with you because it calls our attention to the miraculous. Your mother called our attention to miraculous, especially in her legacy experience of the statue of the Blessed Mother in WWII, in her family home.
"Days pass and the years vanish, and we walk sightless among miracles.
Lord, fill our eyes with seeing and our minds with knowing;
let there be moments when Your Presence, like lightning, illumines the darkness in which we walk.
Help us to see, wherever we gaze, that the bush burns unconsumed.
And we, clay touched by God, will reach out for holiness, and exclaim in wonder:
How filled with awe is this place, and we did not know it!
Blessed is the Eternal One, the holy God!
Amen.
❤May you feel the warmth of your mothers presence through shared story. ❤
❤May guiding, colorful beams of light continue to lure our attention lead us all forever home. ❤

Maria was such a wonderful friend to me and many others. She had such deep faith, a wonderful sense of humor, and a listening heart. I will always cherish my memories of her and trust that she continues with us through our loving God.

When I think of your Mom I remember her making the BonBon curl ponytail things. You guys used to wear them and then she made some for us or showed my Mom how to make them. Our Moms became friends a long time ago and because of that I got to be friends with the cool twins who moved to town, in what the second grade? So many memories and a lifetime of friendship for them. Your Mom will be missed. She was a special person.❤️A few years ago Maria came out to my house with my Mom Anne to watch a soccer match with Germany and I can't remember the other team. She was walking with a cane and needed help into our house. My mom was still driving out of town then and thought Maria would enjoy getting out of the house. My mom was an avid soccer fan but I am not sure Maria really cared about the game but she chatted a lot and we all had a good time. What I really loved is that she was not afraid to say what was on her mind. My husband has a very opinionated personality and she would fire right back at what she thought about his opinions. I love that Maria and Mom remained friends for all these years. I think that is very special.
