Crystal Harney

Obituary of Crystal Marie Harney

Crystal Marie Harney (41) resident of St. Maries, ID passed away at her home on April 1, 2019.  She was born on December 30, 1977 in Modesto, CA.  Crystal was raised in Anderson, CA.  She attended Anderson High School, and graduated with the class of 1997.  Following high school, she attended Shasta College where she majored in music (specifically choir).  Crystal could sing traditional songs, but she could show off her talent and beautiful voice singing Opera, Jazz, Japanese, and Italian.

In 2001 Crystal moved with her parents to St. Maries, ID.  She went to work at Valley Vista’s day care center where she taught younger children, and took care of the babies.  In 2002 Crystal attended classes in Early Childhood Education where she obtained her certification.  She most recently was talking about going back to school and obtaining her degree in this field.

Crystal loved the Lord and was a very active member of the Assembly of God Church.  She served as Janitor, Sunday School Teacher, a VBS Coordinator, and all aspects of the Children’s Ministry offered at the church.  When she was 24 years old, Crystal was diagnosed with Epilepsy and often suffered from seizures.  For 2 years in a row, Crystal made monthly trips to Boise to take part in testing of a seizure drug hoping to find relief from her Epilepsy.  She also spent time traveling to Seattle for testing to see if she was a candidate for surgery.  Her best friend and sister Cori often accompanied her.

Crystal loved to attend concerts, read, sing, and play on the Marco Polo app.  She loved people very much and enjoyed having coffee with her friends.  Crystal was a Ray of Sunshine that loved to visit with people.  On a daily basis, she would check in with friends to see how they were doing.  She was the first one to pray for her friends if they were going through a tough time.  She also would visit elderly friends at the nursing home, and had even sat with them while dying so they wouldn’t be alone.  She had a huge heart, gave great hugs, and had a lot of spunk.  Her friends and family will miss her very much.

Crystal is survived by her mother Kaye Harney of St. Maries, ID; brother Eric (Angelee) Harney of Redding, CA; sister Melinda (Jordan) Keith of Middleton, ID; adopted sister Cori Cochran of St. Maries, ID; uncles Buck (Donna) Harney of Vancouver, WA, Jerry (Audrey) Thomason of Pennsylvania, and Roger (Nancy) Banning of Grant Pass, OR; aunts Sara Stevens of Middleton, ID, Cathy Livingston of Afghanistan, Lora (Dave) French of Lake Mead, AZ, and Janice Thomason of Ceres, CA; 4 nieces; 1 nephew; 1 great niece; and 1 great nephew.  She is preceded in death by her father Thomas Michael Harney and her grandparents.

A memorial service will be Friday, April 12, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Assembly of God Church in St. Maries, ID.  Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.  A gathering of family and friends to share a meal will follow interment in the Fellowship Hall at the Assembly of God Church.  Memorial donations may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation of Idaho www.epilepsyidaho.org
