Obituary of Madge L. Murray
Madge L. Murray (76) passed away in Coeur d’ Alene, ID on April 24, 2019. She was born to Roy and Ellen (Pratt) Hutchinson on December 26, 1942 in Seattle, WA. She grew up on Peone Prairie. Her father was a Cowboy who worked numerous ranches. Because of this, the family moved around a lot, and Madge started working on ranches as a child. Madge graduated from Riverside High School with the class of 1961.
Following high school, she married L.P. Murray in 1965. She took in his 2 sons as her own, and the couple had 3 more children together. Over the years their family lived in Deer Park, WA, Florida, and then returned to Deer Park, WA. In 1970 they moved to Alder Creek near St. Maries, ID and permanently made their home.
As a resident of the Benewah Valley, Madge helped set up the Benewah Valley Association. Over the years she partook in many potlucks and meetings. She also was a 4-H leader and loved teaching leather work. She also worked with the 4-H kids and horses. She had a Stallion, Shetland, and a Quarter horse whom she loved.
Madge had a very big heart and will be remembered by her smile and generosity. She was the kindest any person ever knew, and was always helping people, specifically struggling kids. Aside from her horses, Madge loved her dogs, and she loved to cook for the people she loved.
Madge is survived by her children Patrick (Sherri) Murray of St. Maries, ID, Scott (Krisanna) Murray of Bull Head City, AZ, William Murray of St. Maries, ID, and Gregory (Sally) Murray of Athol, ID; daughter Tina Murray of Plummer, ID; brother Roy Hutchinson; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces; and 3 nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband LP Murray; and brothers Frederick Hutchinson and Fred Hutchinson.
A Memorial Service will be May 27, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Benewah Community Center in St. Maries, ID.
