Obituary of Barbara S. Damiano
Barbara S. Damiano (70) longtime Harrison, ID resident passed away in Coeur d’ Alene, ID on August 19, 2019. She was born to Ken and Ruth Ekins on January 9, 1949 in Altadena, CA. Barb grew up in California and graduated in 1967 from Charter Oak High School in Covina, CA. Following high school she attended Citrus Junior College in Glendora, CA where she obtained her A.S. Medical Assistant degree.
In 1974 Barb moved to Harrison, ID where she met Dale Damiano. The couple married on February 14, 1975. They made their home out on Bell Canyon Road near Harrison. Barb stayed home to care for her 2 daughters, and when they were able to attend school, she went to work for the Harrison Trading Co. Barb also bartended at Carlin Bay Resort and the Gateway Resort. When Barb’s girls were younger, she enjoyed playing and coaching softball, and was a volunteer EMT. Barb later opened up a day care out of her home. She ran her business for 20 years before health issues forced her to retire.
Barb was very patriotic; she loved her country and troops. She enjoyed traveling and watching the Seahawks, Mariners, Dodgers, and Zags. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She will be missed.
Barb is survived by her husband Dale at their home near Harrison, ID; daughters Jolie (Chris) Rubio of Lewiston, ID and Natalie Damiano of St. Maries; mother Ruth Ekins of Post Falls, ID; brother John (Mariglee) Ekins of Lebanon, OR; and 2 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father Ken Ekins.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at The Country Barn Bed and Breakfast, located at 18500 S. Old Lane Road, Cataldo, ID.
