Obituary of Bill L. Rhodes

William L. Rhodes "Bill" (81), Died Friday, December 30, 2011 at Coeur d' Alene, ID. He was a long time resident of Plummer ID, and the Benewah area and was residing in the town of Sprit Lake, ID at the time of his death . He was born May 9, 1930 to Leon and Edna (Godlevski) Rhodes at Lewistown, PA. He grew up in McClure, PA where he attended school. When he was 18 years old, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served during the Korean War and Viet Nam War. He was Honorably discharged in 1967 as a Chief Petty Officer and remained in the Naval Reserves for 10 years. Bill Married Rebecca Ann Miller Sept. 27, 1975 at Collville, WA. This marriage produced their daughter Susan Dawn Rhodes. They moved to Moscow 1976 where he worked on Construction at Washington State Univ. 1977 the family moved to Emida, ID and lived their where he worked in construction. In the late 1990's he worked on various jobs in the Benewah Valley. Moved to Plummer in 1994. In 2005 he moved to Coeur d' Alene and settled in Spirit Lake, ID shortly thereafter. Bill was a member of the Pipefitters Local # 44 of Spokane, WA and a life member of the V.F.W. Post 1473 of Spirit Lake and the National Rifleman's Assn. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed shooting and re-loading. Bill is survived by his wife at the family home. His daughter Susan D. Allen and husband Bryan of Spirit Lake, ID as well as step-daughter's and their husbands Rebecca and Bryan Jones of Fernwood, ID and Kimberlie and Gary Coen of Terrebonne, OR. Also surviving are step-son and wife Frederick and Tammy Brown of Spirit Lake, ID. He is also survived by brother Barry A. Rhodes Sr. of McClure, PA and sister Doris Snook and husband Fern of Buchanan, Mich. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandson Tyler Dean Coen. A celebration of his life will be held later in the Spring at a date and time to be announced.
