Obituary of Moreeta W. Sines-Taylor

Moreeta W. Sines-Taylor (99) lifetime resident of the St. Maries area died March 10, 2013 at St. Maries. She was born January 18, 1914 to Wilbur and Nora (Malcom) Bannister at Harvard, ID. She grew up in Rosalia, WA. where she took the train to Spokane to attend school. She stayed there during the week and worked as a housekeeper for her room and board. She graduated from Lewis-Clark H.S. with the Class of 1931. On December 21, 1931, she married Truman Sines at St. Joe City where they made their home. She moved into St. Maries in 1945 where she was a homemaker and raised her 13 children. Her husband died in 1959. Following her husband's death, Moreeta went to work for the Golden Eagle Bar as a bartender. She married James Taylor in 1961. He died in 1976. In the mid-1960's, Moreeta became employed at Don and Minerva's Restaurant where she worked as a waitress and cook. She left that job in the mid-1980's. She then began to work for the St. Maries Eagles Lodge where she cooked and cleaned the building. She also cleaned several area churches. Moreeta retired in the late 1980's. Moreeta enjoyed crocheting, quilting , embroidery and sewing. She also enjoyed gardening, watching sporting events and game shows on T.V. as well as working cross word puzzles. She was avid reader of many types of books. Moreeta made all her children's clothes when they were growing up. When they were children, she made each one a pair of pajama's which she would give to them at Christmas. As soon as one Christmas ended, she would start on next years pajama's. This activity continued through to her grandchildren as well. Moreeta remembered all members of her family's birthdays. She recently was honored to cut the 100th Anniversary Cake for the founding of the City of St. Maries. She was a lifetime member of the St. Maries Eagles Auxiliary and was honored as "Eagles Woman of the Year" by the organization several years ago. Moreeta is survived by her son's and daughters-in-law Murl and Mary Sines, John and Shirley Sines and Doug and Shelly Sines all of St. Maries. Daughter Juanita Mokry of Plummer and daughters and sons-in-law Vickey and Terry Worthington and Susan and Doc Millikin all of St. Maries. Also surviving are 70 grandchildren, 200 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sons Gene, Truman Jr, Wesley and Joe Sines and daughters Betty Young, Moreeta Arnold and Norma Wheeler. She was also preceded in death by grandchildren Randy, Brian, Brent, Christina and James Sines, Frankie and Darcy Mokry, Chris Briggs, Timothy Larson and Russell Worthington. Also preceding her in death and several great grandchildren including Nathan Sines and McKya Cordle. She was also preceded in death by brother Lyman Bannister and sister Eva Carpenter. A graveside service will be held on Saturday March 16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery with a Celebration of her life following at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Maries Eagles Lodge with Rev. Warren Law officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Eagles Lodge Hall down stairs.
