Obituary of Michael Leroy Madison

Michael Leroy Madison (54) resident of Plummer, ID passed away on January 20, 2020. He was born in Southern California to Ed (Sonny) and Anne (Sutton) Madison on January 9, 1966. Mike grew up in Spokane, WA mostly. He attended schools in Cus' Spokane, Deer Park, and for a brief time in Hunters, WA. Following his schooling, Mike went to live with his brother Randy and wife Debbie. After spending time with them, he went to California to work jobs in Security. He moved to Arizona where he went to work as a landscaper. Mike always seemed to have a brother by his side in his travels. Mike moved to Plummer, ID working in the road construction field. He then moved to the Spokane Indian Reservation to live with his sister Deb. Mike returned to Plummer area when CDA Casino was being built and established. Mike worked Security for various concerts and Pow Wow's at the Coeur d'Alene Casino. It is there he enjoyed gambling with his favorite slot machines, and he enjoyed life dancing with everyone he could get on the dance floor. The music would start, and Mike was ready to dance the night away, right ladies...lol. He would put his leather fringed coat on, and those long legs would start stepin and sliding around and then his wiggle was on. Trace Adkins performed at the Casino and Mike was be-donkin up and down those isles dancing his heart out. And anywhere Mike lived he easily made numerous friends. He was a very kind-hearted man who was generous at times to a fault. He would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. Mike had a sense of humor and very quick wit. He enjoyed tinkering on anything and building and repairing things; his hands always hand to be busy. In his earlier years, he was very artistic, instead of writing a note he would draw pictures of what he was about to do. Example: Smiley face with a hill and his bike jumping the hills. Mike had no children of his own, but he had all his nieces and nephews that he always had time for. They could each tell of their special stories they had with him, these memories will always be cherished and were blessings to our family. He loved all his friends and family with a huge heart, and it is an understatement to say he will be missed. Mike is survived by his sister Deb Ost of Spokane, WA; brothers Randy (Debbie) Hardwick of Fruitland, WA, Ray Hardwick of Wellpinit, WA, Bob Hardwick of Spokane, WA and Mark Madison of Spokane, WA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by both his parents. A Celebration of Life will be planned in the Spring to have Mike's ashes placed next to his parents at the Soccumtickem Family Cemetery, West End of the Spokane Indian Reservation. Mike used to always end saying, “Later not good-bye”, well Mike later and we love you and you were our blessing in all of our lives. A Life of Drinken and Druggen on the Reservation Come with me on this Journey as I'll explain the life I've lived and seen living on the reservation. It's hard to see how life really can be, when all you see is drugs and alcohol in the family. It's been a journey I've followed for thirty years and it's never seemed to change. It's been a life of booze, druggen, and loosen family to the battle which holds the enemy. And to rid myself of this enemy I have to change. So I know the time is near, the time has come, the time to have no fear, because it's my time to come clear and clean to pick a new scene, I'll take a new direction to stay sober and clean for my family and me. The time is right to steer my life right and to follow my guiding light. Because my higher power and I know it's the right thing to do. And I know if I don't change for a better fare, I'll be looking like a fool, since I couldn't follow the rules. Then I'll be singing the blues because I'll be dressed in prison blues with nothing to do except write stories about me to you about how dumb I've been, now sitting back in the pen and knowing this isn't the place I should have been. I should have been leading a life sober and clean and talking to all the little ones of the life style of alcohol and drugs is a sin, for we know our life will end unless we change our ways and follow a new direction I must learn to lead a life to recovery to be free once again.
