Obituary of LeRoy B. Pleticha

LeRoy B. Pleticha Sr. (83) resident of St. Maries, ID died April 13, 2013 at Hospice House of North Idaho in Coeur d' Alene, ID. He was born June 29, 1929 at Lumbard, Illinois. Roy grew up a Lumbard and graduated from High School there with the Class of 1947. Roy enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1950. He served in Korea as a flight crew member aboard B-29's. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sgt. In 1953. He then moved to Moscow, ID and attended the Univ. of Idaho. He married Margaret Hedley in 1953 at Orofino, ID. He completed his studies and graduated with a degree in Forestry in 1954. He moved to Council, ID in 1963 and worked in the Forestry Industry as a sawyer and sawyer foreman. He moved to Garden Valley, ID in 1974 and continued to work in timber harvesting. Roy later went to work for Columbia Heli-copter Logging. His job took him through out most of the United States and Alaska. He worked there for 12 years. He was injured in 1995 and completed his work with the company as a night watchman. He and Margaret moved to St. Maries in 2003 and she died later that same year. Roy met Anna Sines at church in 2004 and they became best friends. They traveled to Germany in 2005 and had their companionship blessed by a German priest. Roy enjoyed all kinds of air craft in general especially model air planes. In his youth, he enjoyed riding motorcycles. Roy is survived by his life partner Anna Sines at their family home in St. Maries. Also surviving are sons Pete Pleticha of Buhl, ID and Leroy Pleticha Jr. of Bothell, WA. Daughters Loretta Stout of Post Falls, ID and Susan Mentor of Genesee, ID, his brother Doug Pleticha of Chicago, IL and sisters Anita Benson of Windfield, IL and Betty Jean Lercher of Heber Springs, AR. Roy is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated this Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church with Fr. Francisco Godinez celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Benedictine Hall. Roy's ashes will be laid to rest with his wife at Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date.
