Obituary of Gordon L. Morris

Gordon L. Morris (84) of St. Maries, retired from life April 15, 2013 at St. Maries. The youngest of five, Gordon was born September 13, 1928 to Leonard and Mary (Cline) Morris at Chewelah, WA. After many moves as a child due to his father's work, as a government trapper, the family settled in Malott, WA. Gordon married Evelyn Stout October 12, 1947 at Omak, WA. The marriage was blessed with two children. Besides managing an apple orchard in Malott, he also owned a Chevron gas station. In 1955 he moved his family to Washtucna, Wa where he went to work for Sitko Chevrolet. While living there, he volunteered for the local fire department and ambulance service. Both of which he took great pride in as he was always one who believed in service to others. He had two more moves which included one to Bend, OR and then to St. Maries in 1976. Gordon went to work as the Transportation Supervisor for the St. Maries School Dist. And retired from that position. His wife died in 2005. Gordon's passions in life were his family, friends, sporting events, hunting and fishing. He led an incredible life which included getting his pilots license and racing cars in the 1950's on dirt tracks. In his retirement, he enjoyed making flower deliveries for his daughters flower shop. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Greg Bergquist of St. Maries, ID and son and daughter-in-law Randall and Glenda Morris of Tigard, OR His sister Ethel Fix of Omak, WA and his grandchildren Jenn and Mike Minier, Pam and Ryan Olson of St. Maries and Tracey Morris of California. Great Grandchildren Zach and Tyler Olson of St. Maries and Blake Minier of Coeur d' Alene, ID as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, infant brother Tommy, brother Frank and sister Alice (Carol) Bachaud.
