Obituary of Ray Whitecotton
James "Ray" Whitecotton (87) resident of Plummer, ID., died May 2, 2013 at LaCrosse Health and Rehab in Coeur d' Alene, ID. Ray was born November 27, 1925 to Amos and Ludia (LeMaster) Whitecotton at Rice, WA. He grew up in Hood River, Oregon. He graduated from Hood River High School in 1944. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy June 15, 1944 and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of War. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He returned to Hood River and worked in the logging industry. Ray married Ruth Nance on March 14, 1953 at Mt. Hood Community, OR. He moved to St. Maries, ID in 1963 where he continued to work in the logging industry, before going to work for the St. Maries Complex of Potlatch Corp. He retired from there in 1987. He moved to Plummer, ID in 1997. Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, yard and garden work as well as horseback riding. Ray is survived by his wife Ruth at the family home in Plummer. Also surviving are his son Don Whitecotton of Worley, ID and daughters Kay Mosholder of Spokane, WA, Judi (Ed) Miller of Redmond, OR, Susan (Gilbert) Pfister of Minneapolis, MN and Molly (Rick) Schnebly of Plummer, ID. Ray is also survived by Brothers Richard (Verna) Whitecotton of Odell, OR, and Robert (Evelyn) Whitecotton of Odell, Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter Radene Cannon and brother Laurence Whitecotton and sister Florence Ryan. Private interment has taken place at Evergreen Cemetery, Plummer, ID A celebration of his life will be Monday, May 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the Plummer Assembly of God Church , County line Road, Plummer, ID with Pastor Charles Inks officiating.
