Obituary of Mary Ann Mitchell
Mary Ann Mitchell (78) longtime resident of Emida, Idaho, died May 23, 2013 at her home in Emida following an extended illness. She was born November 9, 1934 to Percy and Letha (Begay) Sangster at Greasewood, AZ. She grew up in Greasewood before moving to a boarding school in Oklahoma. She was there thru the 8th grade when she transferred to Carson City , NV and attended Stewart Indian School. She worked there as a teachers aide. Mary attended her nurses training in Reno, NV. She married Charles B. Mitchell on June 16, 1963 at Carson City, NV. She then finished her nurses degree shortly thereafter. She and her husband made their home in Reno, NV. She went to work for St. Mary's Hospital at Reno. Mary moved to Portland, OR in 1968 and worked for Tualitan Valley Hospital. She moved to Idaho in 1985. Mary went to work as Dr. David Baines nurse at St. Joe Valley Clinic. She later went to work at Valley Vista Care Center where she retired in 2006. Mary enjoyed sewing and was an avid reader of Native American Culture. She also enjoyed cooking and loved caring for people. Mary is survived by her husband at the family home. Her son and daughter-in-law Marvin and Kim Mitchell of Chandler, AZ. Also surviving are her brother David Sangster of Greasewood, AZ and sisters Letha Fuson and Rose Joe both of Greasewood, AZ , Peggy Yazzie and Pauline Fields both of Gallup, NM, and Irene Freddie of Tse Bonito, NM. She is also survived by grand daughter Nicole Mitchell of Ft. Defiance, AZ. She was preceded in death by her son Eric Mitchell, daughter Carol Mitchell, Brothers Herman and Henry; Sangster and sister Ethel Lynch. Graveside services will be Saturday May 25, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. At Riverside Cemetery, Santa, ID followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. At the Emida Community Center Church with Rev.
