Obituary of David Warren Janson

David W. Janson Sr. (67) longtime resident of Plummer, ID passed away at Kootenai Health on March 31, 2021. He was born to Robert and Nora (McCartney) Janson on December 15, 1953 in Fairfield, WA. David grew up in Plummer and graduated from Plummer High School with the class of 1971. Following high school, David went to work for Pacific Crown as the head Sawyer. He married Peggy Clot and the couple had 2 children. An injury at the mill left David unable to perform his current job duties, so he moved his family to Spokane where he opened up his own business as a commercial painter. He ran this business for almost 10 years before returning to Plummer. His marriage to Peggy ended in divorce. David went to work for the Coeur d’ Alene Casino. He met Kathy Bice and they started their life together in 1998. David went to work for the City of Plummer as the City Superintendent. He held this position for over 10 years before small town politics prompted him to return to the casino. When he returned to the casino, he actually obtained a maintenance position for Circling Raven Golf Course. This was a job that he absolutely loved and was still currently employed there. David enjoyed fishing, watching sports (Go Zags), drinking beer, camping, and being in the outdoors. He enjoyed being around kids and spoiled them any chance he could get. He was a good family man who loved his family and his friends, and he would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. David was a talented painter and handyman; he will be remembered as a hardworking Jack of all trades. He taught his son almost everything he knew and passed his talents and legacy to David. David is survived by his children Julie (George) Hoover of Spokane Valley, WA and David (Erin) Janson Jr. of Plummer, ID; sisters Maxine Leitz and Doreen McCully both of Plummer, ID; 2 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his companion Kathy Bice, and siblings Robert Janson, Don Janson, Steve “Corky” Janson, and Roger Janson. A memorial service and meal will be on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 12:00 noon at the Rose Creek Longhouse in Worley, ID.
