Obituary of Donald Lee Timken

Donald Lee Timken (74) lifelong resident of Medimont, ID passed away at his home on April 7, 2021 with family surrounding him. He was born on September 4, 1946 in Coeur d’ Alene, ID to Howard and Loretta Timken. Donny grew up in Medimont and attended grade school in Rose Lake. He was a talented athlete in high school playing basketball and football, he loved sports! He graduated from Kootenai High School with the class of 1964. Following high school, Donny went to work at Potlatch Corp. He worked there for a few years before enlisting into the United States Army. He served 2 years, with one of those years being overseas in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1970. Donny returned to Medimont where he briefly returned to Potlatch. He went to work in the woods logging and was a Sawyer for several area loggers. He met Linda Burch through his brother Bobby and wife Peggy. They married on June 14, 1975, and very temporarily made their home in St. Maries. After about 11 months, Donny missed Medimont, so the couple made their permanent home there. Although they did not have any children of their own, they enjoyed partaking in the raising of their nephews and nieces. Donny enjoyed teaching them his passion for the outdoors taking them hunting and fishing. An injury in the woods forced Donny to retire early. His main objects in life were fishing and hunting, and he processed his own meat smoking birds and fish and making sausage out of his bigger game. He enjoyed giving this away to friends and family, and they often looked forward to receiving his gifts. Although he wasn’t able to have a big garden, he could grow tomatoes with the best of them. He typically grew 6 or more plants, and he would have Linda busy in the kitchen canning what he couldn’t give away to friends and family. He also loved spoiling his dog Peanut. Everywhere he and Linda went, the dog was sure to go. He would prepare meals for his dog to the point Peanut preferred the steak over ground beef. He sure loved Peanut and would take her on rides just to give her more snacks. Donny is survived by his wife Linda at their home in Medimont, his brother Richard Timken of Enaville, ID, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert Timken. At his request there will be no services.
