Obituary of Cheryl Marie LaSarte

Cheryl Marie LaSarte passed away at her home on April 23, 2021. She was born to Edna Cecelia LaSarte and Helmer Shartner on December 13, 1964 in Spokane, WA. She lived her whole life in DeSmet, ID with her 3 kids Cecelia, Aaron, and Cole LaSarte. She was a loving mother and hard worker. Her biggest joy in life was her children. She enjoyed spending all her time with her kids. Before her health failed, she enjoyed taking her kids bowling, to the lake, riding on the backroads, and watching sunsets which became a ritual of hers with her family. She was a very caring person, beloved by many. Over the years she worked taking care of many kids, starting a daycare at her home. She also worked as a nursing assistant at the Tekoa nursing home in Washington, then later going to the Wellness Center daycare, and ECLC working as assistant cook for a couple of years. Kids loved her, this made me truly proud that she was my mother. She wasn’t only caring to her own children, but also to the friends of her kids, taking them places and caring for them as well. She was such a strong person. She worked around 12 years flagging on the highways all around, traveling sometimes far for work. She enjoyed working with her brothers Larry and John LaSarte and son Aaron LaSarte, who were sometimes referred to as the “LaSarte Flagging Company” by people that knew them. She was such a strong and caring person even though at times she was quick to anger, she was also quick in affection. At the end, she still continued to be strong in her faith to Jehovah God and hope in his new kingdom, not letting her suffering show. I-Thessalonians 4, verse 13-14 says: “Moreover brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who are sleeping in death, so that you may not grieve as the rest do who have no hope. For if we have faith that Jesus died and rose again, so too God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in death through Jesus. Cheryl is now in a peaceful rest until that day the Creator brings her into his Kingdom on Earth. She will be deeply missed by her children Cole and Cecelia, her siblings who survived her in death, Ron, John, Larry, Lavern, and sister Liz, nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins and others whose lives were touched by knowing her. Cheryl was preceded in death by her loving son Aaron (2016) and his baby brother Gary (1987), her mother Edna (1984), brothers Gary (1978), Jim (2015), and niece Alison (1978). At Cheryl’s request there will be no services. Her ashes will be scattered where her son Aaron’s were. On top of a high mountain, that sets the scene for many sunsets, and holds many memories from family trips to the top of it.
