Obituary of Leona Jeane Holton

Leona Jeane Holton (88) resident of St. Maries, ID died June 1, 2013 at St. Maries. She was born November 19, 1924 to Frank and Edith May (Wolfson) Woods at Bremerton, WA. Leona grew up in the Bremerton / Port Orchard area of Washington. She graduated from Bremerton High School with the class of 1943. She was soon married to John Adams. During WWII, Leona worked as a welder at the Bremerton Naval Shipyard. Shortly after the war the family moved to Galveston, TX and later on to Dallas, TX. While in Dallas, Leona worked as a waitress and short- order cook. Upon her return to Washington, Leona worked at the lunch counter of the downtown Bremerton Woolworth for many years. She was divorced in 1970. Leona married Tommy Thompson in 1972. They enjoyed their time together before Mr. Thompson's death some ten years later. She married Osborn (Ozzie) Holte Holton in 1987 at Bremerton. They made their home at Port Orchard, WA. Mr. Holton died in 2008. She then moved to St. Maries to live with her grandson Randy Adams. Leona had a great sense of humor and enjoyed continuous good-natured banter with her son Jay and her grandson Randy. She loved fishing and camping and enjoyed playing bingo. Leona is survived by four children including daughter Edith May Hoover of Lindale, Tx. and son and daughter-in-law Jay and Cindy Adams of Whitebird, ID. She is also survived by brother Ray Woods of Port Orchard, WA., 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 5 sisters.
