Obituary
Obituary of David Norman Sharp
David Sharp, long-time resident of St. Maries, ID tenaciously clung to finding solutions for problems, whether it was a non-functioning oil furnace, a brown-weedy lawn, or a broken door hinge. He approached his seven-year battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis with the same tenacity; a battle he finally lost on Friday, June 4, 2021, when he went home to be with his Savior Jesus Christ while in the presence of loving family and under the compassionate care of Hospice of North Idaho staff at the Schneidmiller House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
David was born the fourth child of Herbert and Mary Ellen Sharp of Nebraska City, NE on November 5, 1943. He was a graduate of North High in Omaha, NE where he excelled in choral music and musical performance. After high school, he became a founding member of the “Bob-Sharp Trio” singing folk music throughout the Omaha area. He married a North Idaho native, and after the birth of their first child, the couple relocated from Omaha to St. Maries where they raised their family of three children.
His love of music relocated along with him as he used his beautiful tenor voice participating in community Christmas and Easter cantatas, singing in a barber shop quartet, and at many church events. David worked many years in maintenance for the St. Maries Joint School District, but when he experienced a life-altering work-related injury in 1984, he established and operated Sharp Services, a seasonal lawncare and landscaping service and oil furnace maintenance and installation business.
David is survived by his wife Sharon of Post Falls, Idaho; his three children, Tenya (Bobby) Ingalls, Taiya Bigner and Kel Sharp; their mother Vivian; all residents of Denham Springs, LA; sister Joyce Shepherd of Tabor, IA; brother Gale (Jenni) Sharp of Spokane, WA; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Jackie, Herbert, and Charles.
An informal public gathering will be held to celebrate David’s life on Friday, June 18, 2021 - 3:00 p.m. at Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries.
