Obituary of Ruth E. Kraus

Ruth E. Kraus (87) resident of St. Maries, ID died June 9, 2013 at St. Maries. She was born November 6, 1925 to Peter and Bernice Malinak at Kellogg, ID. Ruth grew up in Wardner, ID She married Cliff Schoener in 1940 at Kellogg. During the war years, she lived in Spokane, WA while her husband served in the U.S. Navy. Following the war, they purchased a dairy farm on Mica Flats, near Coeur d' Alene, ID. They operated the farm for 10 years. She was divorced in 1971. Ruth married Jack Kraus in 1972 and they made their home in Kingston, ID. She was a homemaker all her life. Jack died in 1991 and Ruth moved to Coeur d' Alene. She moved to St. Maries to be near her daughter in 2006. Ruth enjoyed fishing, craftwork, cermics and was an avid reader of fiction. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Katie and Gale Masterson of St. Maries. Her sons and daughters-in-law Bill and Cheryl Schoener and Richy and Karen Schoener all of Coeur d' Alene. Also surviving are her brother Bud Malinak and sisters Marie Johnston and Mae Davis all of Spokane, WA. 8 grandchilden, 6 great grandchilden and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by grandson Tommy Dykes, brothers Jerry and Norm Malinak and sister Twila Steinbach. At Ruth's request, no services are planned.
