Obituary of Virginia L. Potman

Virginia L.Potman (71) resident of St. Maries, ID died June 12, 2013 at Life Care Center, Post Falls, ID She was born January 25, 1942 to Thomas and Lillie (Ivey) Long at Blythe , California. She grew up in California, Texas and Oregon, where ever her father's work took the family. She attended school in Oregon. She married Bill Walker in 1960 at Sutherland, OR. They were divorced in 1963. She married John Young in 1963 at Coeur d' Alene, ID. They made their home in Spokane, WA where she was involved in raising her children. She and Mr. Young were divorced in 1970. She then moved to St. Maries. She worked at Valley Vista Care Center as a certified nurses aide for 13 years. She retired in 2004. Virginia loved playing Bingo. She enjoyed spending time in her yard. She had a passion for gardening and growing flowers. She also enjoyed Camping and fishing. Virginia also enjoyed playing cards and loved spending time with her great grandchildren. She was a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church. Virginia is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Terrie Derry and Peter Derry, Shelly and Dan Crane all of St. Maries and Martha and Eddie Santiesteban of Kalispell, MT. Her son and daughter-in-law James and Liz Young of Nine Mile Falls, WA. Also surviving are her brothers and wives Calvin and Helen Long of Lompoc, CA and Brian and Sheila Long of Laclede, ID. Also surviving are her sister-in-law Alice Curson of Salem, OR, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both her parents, brother Wayne Curson and sisters Inez Tate and Nancy Moore. There will be private family services held at a later date this summer.
