Obituary of Richard Clark Sawyer
Richard "Dick" C. Sawyer (81), longtime resident of Spokane Valley, WA passed away on October 24, 2021, at Sacred Heart Hospital from complications of pneumonia. He was born on February 18, 1940, to Ellis and Eleanor Sawyer. He was born in Harrington, WA, raised in Davenport graduating from Davenport High School in 1958. After high school he joined the Air National Guard and worked as a civilian as an aircraft mechanic until his retirement in 1994. He then went to work for Capstone Construction doing maintenance to keep himself busy. He was affectionately known to them as "Dr. Demo".
Dick is survived by his wife of 50 years, Suzanne Sawyer. He is also survived by his children Shelley (Mark) Moore of Newport, OR, Tim Sawyer and Jill (Cliff) Dunlap of Spokane Valley, WA; Brother John (Rita) Sawyer and Sister Shirley (Jerry) Wahl, both of Davenport, WA; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandson, and 1 on the way; grandchildren Corastyn Hudson-Sawyer, Mark Moore, Samantha Moore, Garret Sawyer, Madison Dunlap, Shannon Dunlap, and Emily Pruitt; great grandson King Mireles, and 1 great on the way.
At his request, there will be no formal service; however, a family celebration of life will take place in the spring.
