AN ODE TO PATRICK EDWARD SULLIVAN, Sr.:
In the early fifties, the boys from Chicopee, came out to see,
their father and the Sullivan property.
They visited with the Fountain family by the River Saint Joe,
strangers at first, but soon as friends - it would show!
Patrick and his brother were to meet their match,
with some of the Fountain brothers they rough-housed
all day - neither with nary a scratch!
It was a summer of friendship - "Massachusetts" versus "Idaho" -
-then as always happens - it was time for them to go.
Time marches on - and friendships become cold,
interrupted by the Marine Corps & the County of Los Angeles
-as we continue to grow old.
Faced with a future, where each does what is best,
we're left with the good memories as we come to the "final rest"
Patrick, my friend, you were one of the best!
