Obituary of Wayne Thompson
Wayne Thompson (64) resident of Plummer, ID died January 4, 2012 at his home near Plummer following a courageous 9 month battle with cancer. He was born August 13, 1947 to Howard and Lois (Kyllo) Thompson at St. Maries, Idaho. He grew up and attended school in St. Maries. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1965. He was stationed in Viet Nam and the Philippines. He was discharged in 1967 and returned to St. Maries. Wayne had three marriages which ended in divorce. He worked as a long haul truck driver as well as working in Alaska. He returned to St. Maries to drive logging truck for local logging contractors. He met Debbie Essary in 1990 while driving truck to California. They made their home together and lived in Eugene, OR for 8 years before moving back to St .Maries in 1998. He worked for Joe Murray Logging out of Princeton, ID driving logging truck. He and Debbie moved to Plummer area in 2006. Illnes forced him to retire in March of 2011. An avid outdoorsman Wayne enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. Wayne is survived by his companion Debbie at the family home at Plummer. He is also survived by his daughter Angela Rae Gilsson of Plummer, ID, his brother Al Thompson of Post Falls, ID as well as his sisters and brothers-in-law Denise and Lee Layton of Medimont, ID and Andrea and Bob VanHorn of Post Falls, ID and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brother Howard Thompson and sister Sue Ann Thompson as well as his parents. Services will be held at a later date and time to be announced.
